From Playseat® to Formula 1!

Max Verstappen, youngest Formula 1 driver

It was 2011 when he won his first Formula 1 race in a Playseat® simulator and this year he will be the youngest Formula 1 driver ever: Max Verstappen! We are proud of “our” Dutch racing hero, that won a Playseat® F1 Red Bull Racing chair when he was fourteen and competed in a Codemasters F1 2011 tournament. We like to think the Playseat® F1 model has helped him get where he is now!

In 2011 he defeated professional drivers like his father Jos Verstappen and Tom Coronel, but also trained gamers and VIP’s. His talent for Formula 1 racing already showed! This is what Max had to say about the difference between racing at home with a normal controller and racing with a Playseat® simulator: “I practiced at home, but that was with a normal controller and not in a Playseat® chair, that simulates the postion of a Formula 1 car. I had to get used to the racing wheel, but eventually it helped me racing faster than before. It was a really great experience and a nice victory!”

On August 19th, 2014, the sixteen year old Max was announced as the new Scuderia Toro Rosso driver for 2015, making him the youngest Formula 1 driver ever! It has always been his dream to be a Formula 1 racer, like his dad, and now his dream will come true! He already had many successes in karting and now he is ready for the next step. We wish him good luck and hope he will have a successful future in Formula 1!
